Description

Our custom chrome plated Double Edge Safety Razor (aka DE Blade, or Safety Razor), is presented with serious wet shavers in mind. The safety razor was first introduced in the late 18th century as an alternative (and “safer”) to a cut throat blade. “DE” blades are commonly known as the blade your father or grandfather used to use – today, classic style wet shaving is making a resurgence.

The blade is packaged in matte black gift box, accompanied with a pack of starter blades, and an instructional card.

Made In Germany.

	It had been years since I shaved with a safety razor. The last time I bought razor blades for a modern razor I was disgusted at the price. I paid $16.00 for 1 month of shaving, 4 blades, so I decided to try a safety razor again. After searching through multiple forums, and this site, I decided to give the Baxter of California Safety Razor a try since another review stated it was the same as a Muhle R89 Double Edge Safety Razor. The Muhle was my first choice but it was out of stock. It arrived in about a week with my other items, not bad since I live on the Right coast. The next morning I gingerly applied it to my face. I was a little apprehensive due to all the cautions about safety razors nicking you. I had cut myself years ago with one so I was tentative. After the first few strokes I fell in love with it. Smooth shave on first pass WTG and even nicer after a re-lather ATG. No nicks and BBS. No more modern razors for me. I have been using a brush and soap for the last 6 years and this now completes my back to what works shaving routine. If you’re new to safety razors don’t be afraid. Use good straight strokes and your face and wallet will tell you that you have believed the hype about multiple blades for far too long. Here is a comparison: On average you will spend $228.76 a year on shaving cream and modern razor blades. With a brush, soap and safety razor blades you will spend $34.83 a year. That’s a savings of $193.93 and you increase the quality of your shave. Don’t believe the hype, go back to what works….BEST!

	Great Razor!
	I just want to make it clear that this razor is virtually the exact same razor as Muhle's R89 model razor (item id: RZ-MUH-R89). The only difference is the brand insignia at the base of the handle. I know this because I recently purchased both razors thinking they were different. For my review of this razor, please refer to my review of the Muhle R89 Double Edge Safety Razor.
