Product Reviews
Nearly 18months on
I bought this razor around 18 months ago (from an English supplier) and have found it to be very stylish, quite heavy, and a joy to use. The weight means you don't need to press. You have to ensure you get the angle right with this razor, and I have a tendency to shave at too steep an angle which can cause dragging. But once the angle is right, the shave is very pleasant, so you may need a bit of practice. Ideally, use with a medium sharp blade. Feather razor blades may be too sharp for this razor, but Gillette 7 O'Clock blades work well, as do Wilkinson Sword Classic, and Personna Platinum 'red' label blades.
Check Out the Edwin Jagger DE 89 first....
Purchased this great razor, but had been using an Edwin Jagger DE89, (with same barley chrome handle). I actually prefer the less expensive DE89. I think it is the shorter handle/shaft on the DE89, which keeps me more precise. The longer handle on the Chatsworth doesn't seem to impart the same control. A fine razor, but the investment in the DE89, at one-third the cost of the Chatsworth, make it a superior investment (and less costly) in a DE razor of quality.
EJ Barley Chrome Razor
Beautiful quality razor with great chrome finish. The barley pattern adds an elegant touch to the razor. Didn't think I would like a non-adjustable, but this razor makes either edge of the blade shave the same. Even a Feather blade shaves more consistently. Above all, this is a very nice quality razor.
