Merkur Safety Razors

Merkur razors were the very first DE's that we carried over here at West Coast Shaving. They are an industry go-to and have set the bar for many other brands. For this reason, we have repeatedly recommend them and repeatedly sold them! The wide array of types of heads ranging from safety bars, open comb, adjustables, and slant bars have made them desirable by many. They do a great job with making those handles grippy. Yes, that razor is not going ot slip in your had with that significant "industrial" feeling knurling. A true favorite safety razor brand with our customers.

Merkur Safety Razors Reviews
First safety razor
Merkur 34G Heavy Duty Classic Safety Razor, Gold I found the safety razor to be a great alternative to disposable razors. They are eco friendly and enjoyable to use. The merkur razor I bought is fun and easy to use, and very stylish looking. I enjoy the good finish. My shave experience has enhanced greatly.
Sensitive Skin & Coarse Beard? Get this Razor!
Merkur 37C Heavy Duty Safety Razor, Slant Bar Just completed my first shave with the 37C and a Kai blade. Easily the best shave i have had. Smooth and very little irritation, 2 minor cuts healed with alum. I had issues with the Merkur HD and the Feather AS-D2 seeming to slow down and pulling on my hair. This solved that issue. If you have sensitive skin and a coarse beard, this is the perfect razor!
great razor
Merkur Futur Safety Razor Matte Chrome I love the shave that I get with my Futur.. The minute you lift it you can see that Its a well engineered tool - not a cheap toy. I especially like the adjustability.
Solid, Heavy, and Well Made
Merkur 39C HD Long Handle Barber Pole Safety Razor, Slant Bar I really like this razor after using it for a few weeks. I am not convinced yet that the slanted bar itself necessarily produces a better shave compared to the razors withouth this feature, but it shaves very well. I decided to try this model after having two Merkur 34C HD, which both met their same demise when I accidentally dropped the razors in the shower and the head snapped off. Yeah, I shouldn't have dropped them, but these things happen in soapy and wet places. When the first one broke I thought it was a freak accident, but then it happened again so figured the gods were telling me to try a different one. All Merkur razors are solid, relatively heavy, and seem well made. Yes, they're a little expensive, but if I can get years of use out out then it will prove to be a good investment relative to disposable ones. I certainly enjoy using these razors much more than the disponible ones, and I get a much better shave.
Merkur 34C vs. 38C
Merkur 38C HD Long Handle Barber Pole Safety Razor If you are really into Merkurs read on.

All of the Merkur safety bar safety razors are the same head design. All of the Merkur slants are the same. All of the Merkur open combs are the same. Merkur only has 3 non-adjustable head types and three adjustable head types. Three piece has the advantage of customization; handles can be matched with different head pieces. more info here:

34C review
Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Safety Razor I have a 42c ( too aggressive for me even with a Derby!) and a EJ 89. The 89 and 34 seem to be parallel with an Astra SP. these two razors and blade combo give me the best shave with no cuts or weepers. I prefer the 34. To me...seems as simple to use as a Mach 2 which is what I used for years. YMMV.
only the best will do and this is it
Merkur Futur Safety Razor Matte Chrome yes it's big, heavy, clunky and there's no knurling, but all that is forgotten as you shave your face with no problems. some complain about the handle being to slick, if you make sure your hands are dry there are no problems, easy to change blades. it's the size of the razor that makes it set at the perfect angle on your face. and if you don't believe that razor blades are really different from each other this will prove it. I use the Astra blades on 2.5 setting, the feather on 1.0, if I left the feather on 2.5 it would cut to sharp. the only gripe I have is you have to look online in razor reviews to see what the guideline for shaving is. like is 1 the sharper or lessor setting, because the directions are not on or in the box. I'll still give it 5 stars for the results, it gives me the best shave of any razor I have. the ability to adjust the blade contact Is out standing.
