The Muhle R41 GRANDE Double Edge Safety Razor is the pinnacle of shaving; and for those who have been on the hunt for a great option for their next wet shaving razor, it could be just what they need. It could also be a great first option for those who are making the transition from electronics or disposables to the old school blades.

Getting a good shave is not always easy unless you are using the right tools. Disposables are certainly not the right tools. Even though you can replace the blades in these safety models, those blades are of a much higher quality than those little yellow ones that don't do much more than irritate your face. This model comes with a single blade, as well as a short set of instructions.

What is it that makes this model different from the others in Muhle's line? The GRANDE actually has a longer and a wider handle than the other model, the regular R41. This also will fit the RHM SR Safety Razor Stand. The look and the basic design are the same though. Both work very well. It just depends on whether you want the larger option you see here. The R41 is also the open comb line; whereas, the R89 is the closed comb line.

Overall length: 106mm/4.18 inch
Handle length: 97mm/3.83 inch
Diameter of handle: 14 mm/0.55 inch

Product Reviews
R41 Grande
After reading the review's on the R41 Grande, I purchased one. This is an excellent razor! Unlike the others above, I find it very easy to control and have shaved with it daily with no nick's or cuts for the last couple of weeks. In fact I don't use a pre shave or after shave and haven't experienced any bump's or razor burns either. It is one of the closest shaves I have ever had other than using a barber with a straight razor. Don't be fooled that it's dangerous because it is not. The thicker handle and the heft aid's in controlling this beauty. Just find the right blade and experience this very comfortable and close shaver. Don't hesitate and buy this one if you have a course beard or experience stubble under your jaw line and neck. You'll be glad you did!
Just short of a staight
Just got the R41 in the mail after reading all of the mixed reviews. This razor truly is not for the casual user or even the serious user on a casual day. This thing takes focus. It bit me a couple of times but as I angled the blade closer to parallel with my skin, it got better. There definitely is a learning curve with this guy. However, even though I'm ordering the Muhle R89 for daily use, I will bust this razor out once or twice a week- its fun to use and quite an experience! If you're thinking of buying this razor, go for it but just realize its a completely different animal than anything you've probably shaved with before. All said... I really like this fine piece of equipment.
Addictively Efficient
Despite that Muhle states there has been no change in the 2013 design, I have both the 2011 and the 2013 and there is absolutely a big difference in the top cap width. That said I am addicted to the efficient shave of the R41 (2013). If there is a negative it's that I change the blade more often than with my Merkur 34C
Do not be afraid...
This is a great "aggressive" razor. Paired with a high quality SS blade (Feather, Personna Med, Gillette Blue) and exercising a bit of caution, you will love it. Not an everyday razor, but those with tough beards will appreciate it greatly. First few uses, no nicks, no cuts, no touch ups. Take your time and it will treat you well.
Precise and aggressive
This is a very aggressive and precise razor. All the comments on the internet about this being a ferocious razor is true! I've yet to successfully do an against the grain shave without causing a blood-bath. However, I can get a super smooth shave with just one with the grain shave, which also cuts down the time i spend shaving each morning. Use short and very light, short, and chopping strokes with this razor, and you won't be disappointed.
Do you dare?
This razor is in a category all its own. This thing can sense fear, and if you even THINK of pressing down at all you'll be looking for a plastic surgeon. I'm not giving it a full 5 stars because there is always the inherent danger of permanently disfiguring yourself at any given moment when using this monster. NOT for a beginner. This is the most aggressive DE in production today, but it is also the most amazingly close shave if you can do it right. Focus, concentrate, and DON'T PRESS DOWN.
