Off Center Clay

Artisan, unique, one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted pottery is what Off Center Clay is all about. And these are things we value here at WCS as well. Jim Sandefur is the artist behind the bowls and mugs of this company. He has been throwing pottery since the seventies, but he rediscovered his love in 2007 when he fired his first pot in years in an anagama - a wood-fire, tunnel-like kiln. You will quickly notice that his work has an emphasis on gesture and movement - hence "off center". The wood-fire process produces exceptional pottery because there are unending variables that effect the final result - where the pot is placed, how hot the fire gets, how the ash settles, which other pots sit around it, how long it is in the kiln. . . However, you are assured of a high-quality, hand-made vessel unlike anything else when you get Off Center Clay. Check out his unique shaving mugs. We look forward to carrying more of his work.

a beautiful piece

This bowl is more gorgeous than I thought it would be. It is really great to have a unique item to use for my daily ritual. The bulb handle is nice and large to accommodate my bear paws. Maybe it is just the first soap I happened to put in it, but it fit in easily...no melting necessary. What a great bowl!

Off Center Clay Shaving Mug, Green and Orange. This mug is such a unique colorful creative piece that I was thrilled to see that it is designed so well. The sloped sides allow for great lather and the well was large enough to drop a soap bar in without having to melt it.

Good mug for shaving legs.

Different then others...

Off Center Clay Shaving Mug, Green and Orange.I bought this because that it is different than other bowls or mugs that can be bought. It is smaller, but as it says, you can melt the puck to fit. I just took a sharp knife and trimmed it down to fit. In another review it mentioned it was smaller than normal and that they used it to hold hot water for their brush. I think that is a great idea as well if you have another bowl or mug to use with your soap. Again, I like it because it is different, kind of like me.

Too small

Off Center Clay Shaving Mug, White and Blue. This mug is too small for me to bowl lather with. The only use I was able to get out of it was to soak my brush before face lathering.
