For those of you who don't know our story...West Coast Shaving was not planned or anticipated. We hated shaving as much as many of you. Well, we used
to anyway. John and I are both nerds. I attribute my "nerdiness" to who I married, if I am being honest. But, what John has taught me in life so far is that if something does not work, you should fix it! A typical "guy" thing, but he's right.
With razor burn on his neck, he detested shaving and would often feel he had a free pass when we were on vacation to "take a break from the chore." One fall, he was determine to fix his problems and started his research on the topic. I saw this crazy transformation in him. Pretty soon, he was saying, "Smell this! Check out this brush! Feel how great my face feels! Have you noticed my neck?" I pretty much thought he was getting a little crazy. But, all of a sudden, his chore was not a chore for him. He seemed to look forward to that extra bit of time it took to do something for himself. I figured it was a good Christmas gift for my parents to get for him as it was a little investment to get the right tools, but in the long run not a largely expensive "new hobby."
Then he asked me one day, "Do you want to try my stuff?" I thought he was crazy! This was guy
stuff. But, being the obedient wife that I am, I said, "Yes, dear." (For those of you who know me, or will ever meet me in the the store, you know this is a joke. I am way more of a feisty one than that!) But, I can tell you, shaving has not been on my Top 10 List either. And I can honestly say that I now love shaving, too. I get you wet shaving guys. It's nice to whip up a great lather with a shaving brush that smells oh-so-good, and the shave with a double edge razor couldn't be closer. At the end of the day, I don't have those prickly legs the man loves to complain about!
The business evolved into even more than shaving. Now we offer nice combs, toothpastes, pomades, etc. We honestly just carry stuff that we think is cool or that our customers tell us is cool. And we agree.
The bottom line is this: it's very fun for me to help you guys— and even some ladies— find that a chore does not have to be that! Something you hate can become something you actually look forward to. Taking the time to do something that feels a little fancy makes you feel good! I like to be a part of that process, and that's why I love West Coast Shaving.Ladies, if you're interested in learning more, give us a call (877-710-6037) or email (contact@westcoastshaving) and ask to talk to Kim, Julianna or Christine.
You can talk to Kevin if you want, but we thought you'd like another woman's opinion to start.
