From the days when men demanded refinement in their grooming essentials and women demanded refinement in their men, comes Rooney's Heritage Line.
Why We're Featuring it:
Why are we featuring Rooney? How could we NOT feature Rooney? With an almost mythical mystique and a cult-like following, we would be missing the boat if we didn't check out this iconic brush-maker. Although R.A. Rooney & Sons have very little web presence or consumer contact, they have been making consistently amazing products for centuries. A fire in 1886 destroyed many of their records, but it is pretty well established that this company has been in business since about 1796. That's a long time to perfect the art of the great shave! The company is still family-run and some of their hair buyers and dressers have been with them for over 50 years. For longevity and experience, you can hardly top Rooney.
Why We Like it:
There is so much to like about the Heritage Collection. This throw-back, archive-inspired line brings Victorian-era shaving to your finger-tips. From the days before wet shaving was called "classic" or "traditional", it was just daily grooming, so men knew good quality and effective tools were important. This collection offers that quality and effectiveness with great "Stubby" face-lathering brushes to tall "Emillion" brushes for creating lather in mug or bowl.
The classy, smooth faux bone/horn/ivory handles would have looked familiar to any 1850s gentleman. But the hair!! This line offers Rooney's "super" badger hair, which rivals any of the best on the market. It is harvested from the back of the badger and then further sorted to remove short, twisted hairs. The result is the softest, smoothest loft possible - great for producing lather and holding water. These brushes have the English fan-shaped head, densely-packed with a soft knot.
We're sure you will like it so much that you won't be able to live without it. So, there is even a travel option for when you are on-the-go.
Who this is for:
Anyone who wants a great shave! If you trolled the forums and quizzed your wet shaving friends, then you know that Rooney owners love their brushes. And that Rooney wanters lust after them.
While this might not be "entry-level" with its luxury price tag, just a little penny-pinching and wishing could land you with the last brush you will ever own. In fact, with some TLC, your Rooney could outlive you!
