Mickey Lee Soapworks

The epitome a "mom-and-pop" business, Mickey Lee Soapworks is the husband and wife team of Eric and Samantha McDaniels. Growing out of the "necessity is the mother of invention" mantra that is common to many artisans, Eric began dabbling in wet-shaving to remedy the razor burn he was experiencing with daily (active duty military) required shaves. In an attempt to economize and grow their hobby, they began to make their own shave soaps. With extensive vetting from testers on wet shaving blogs and forums, they launched their business in 2014. Named Mickey Lee (a riff off of Eric's high school moniker and Samantha's maiden name), the business grew and expanded with a loyal following. A Navy IT and cybersecurity specialist, Eric handles the technical side of the business. Samantha is the soap maker, R&D specialist, and creative head. Producing handcrafted, small batch, artisan soap with high-quality natural ingredients is the mission of Mickey Lee Soapworks.

Mickey Lee Soapworks Reviews
The Drunken Goat
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, The Drunken Goat "Go this one as part of the Artisan sample pack. Pretty impressive. Excellent lathering, plenty of glide and smells great on top of that. Can't wait to try some of the other soaps in the sample pack
I'm not sure about the hype
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, The Kraken "Maybe it's just me, but the smell out of the can is very much like laundry detergent. It's actually a very clean smell that's better on the brush and face. I don't have any baby dolphins with which to compare the soap, but I can tell you that it lathers easily and gives a nice smooth shave. I'm hoping it grows on me.
Great soap
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, The Kraken "I wasn't sure what to expect with this being my first soap from ML. The scent is fresh, but not overpowering. The performance is top tier, easy to lather with excellent cushion and slickness. I would purchase again! Great soap!
Love the lather
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, The Drunken Goat Great lather and good fragrance.
Best Shave Soap Ever Hands Down
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, Cape Verde.Been wet shaving since early 2011. I've tried nearly every shave soap out there. Yeah, I'm a shave soap whore, there, I said it=:-) Seriously, I've used the best shave soaps out there but this Cape Verde blows everything out of the water. BTW, I face lather, and FWIW, I use a multitude of shave brushes but for my trial of Mickey Lee Cape Verde, I used a huge knot of synthetic. Fantastic lather, best slick and glide (I shave using straight razors) and the kicker? The scent is a dead ringer for Taylor's of Old Bond Street Eton College After Shave, but I'll be happy to call it a fougere as well and I use several fougere scents regularly, yet this fougere scent is on the sweet (florals, lavender) Seriously, Mickey Lees Cape Verde Shave Soap, easily the best shave soap I have ever used. this recommendatin isn't coming lightly from me, I mean it. This is the best. Period!
Great soap with mild fragrance
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, Grand Havana. The first Mickey Lee soap I bought was Drunken Goat and it was absolutely incredible, both in lather quality and fragrance, so I had high hopes for Grand Havana. The level of aroma is much less and very light. I was also disappointed that the soap was much less densely packed into the container. It still makes a great lather and I really like the shave it produces, but I think it will probably go away faster because it traps water in the loosely formed soap. I'm going to try pressing it to remove this problem.
Loved it
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, Grand Havana. This stuff was a pleasure to use. Smelled great and and no razor burn
The Drunkin Goat
Mickey Lee Soapworks Shaving Soap, The Drunken Goat.I really enjoy the scent of this soap which reminds me of chocolate. That and the slickness during a shave makes this a favorite.
