Muhle R41 Double Edge Safety Razor, Open Comb

44 reviews

Why are you torturing your poor face with those disposable razors that tend to dispose of quite a bit of skin on your face along with your facial hair? They are painful and dangerous, and there's a good chance that they are the reason you are looking into traditional shavers such as the open comb Muhle R41 Double Edge Safety Razor. While these types of shavers may have something of a learning curve, once you do learn how to use them, it actually becomes quite easy, and it can provide a wonderfully close shave. You'll never want to go back to the disposable.

This has the traditional look and feel that you want too. It features quality chrome metalworking and an easy to grip handle. This thing simply looks good, and it will look really nice when it is sitting on your bathroom counter on a stand. This isn't one of those little razors that you have to hide. Be proud and show it off! The more aggressive open comb design will work well for many men who are trying to get their facial hair under control or perhaps who have coarse hair. Check it out and you'll see that it might just be right for you.

Close shave. Fantastic result.

Just had my first go with the r41, using a new feather blade. Amazing experience. An easy 3 pass shave left me with true BBS results and no cuts, weepers, or irritation at all. I’m very impressed. I prepped with castle and Forbes preshave, lathered with Cella, and finished with an alum block and some Baxter’s balm. Excellent experience from start to finish. Before this I had used a 34c (a solid performer) before upgrading to a feather as-d2 (high quality mild razor). The AS-D2 has been my daily driver for about a year. It was taking 4-5 passes to get bbs, or else some fancy stroke work (ie holding at an angle to mimic a slant, or using the j hook action on my neck). Often resulted in irritation or ingrowns, leading me to trade off between comfortable DFS or BBS w/ irritation. But. With the r41 I can actually get a comfortable BBS shave. I just met my new daily driver. The fit and finish is solid too. Not as high quality as the AS-D2 but excellent for the price.

worth it

never had a smoother shave, i use feather blades, some days i get nicks and some days i dont it doesnt bother me, only get redness if i use too much pressure, I think i have somewhat sensitive skin too. the extra focus and attention to detail required while using this razor helps with my morning wake up routine i guess. its not that scary i love it

My overall experience with this Razor was way better than I expected! I just started wet shaving a few months ago. I started with a mild Razor and in lots of YouTube research, thanks to Kensurfs, and GeoFatBoy I purchase this Fine Piece of History. I get a very close shave and being carful and giving the respect this Razor Deserves I haven’t had any bad cuts! I love this Thing and I highly recommend this to be in your shave Repertoire. Thanks

Like it

Like this razor, but I don't love it. It's a little too aggressive, just for the sake of being aggressive. I get closer more comfortable shaves with other razors. Merkur Futur and Razorock German 37 both are more comfortable, and give me closer shaves. Even the Rockwell 6c on plate 5 or 6 is more efficient. I like it with a sharper blade, like a feather or Nacet. YMMV.
