I love everything about this soap. It may not be the most high end or most fancy, but I love it. You've got to pay a little attention to how this soap responds but once you figure it out it's beautiful. Plus it's super cheap so just pick up a puck and give it a go, play around with it some and see what you can do with it.
Bloom with a tiny bit of boiling water, pour the blooming water into a bowl, loads very quickly using badger hair, build a lather out of the reserved blooming water. Easy going, takes about a minute and half and normally need little in the way of adjusting water once you get a feel for how much you need to bloom with. Just keep whipping it and a nice thick and slick lather builds easily enough. I find the lather keeps just OK, normally I can get through a single pass without re-applying. I'm a two pass shaver and the in the second pass the lather tends to dry out a bit but it's not bother to either A) add a few drops of water to the lather and give a quick once over or B) just touch up as you go, it's really not that hard to do. Also, sometimes I can manage with a single pass with this soap as it lubricates well and lifts well. So long as I keep my razor sharp, hot, and wet I can get by when the lather builds just right.
I also really like the scent, it's good and strong on the soap itself and stays well in the lather, but doesn't sit heavy on the face, it just kind of gently lingers in the background. The aroma fills my bathroom as I'm shaving but doesn't walk with me out of the door, at least not prominently, a little aftershave or cologne easily mask it. It's cinnamon and all-spice notes are very forward but there's a really nice soft sweetness too. Like a vanilla chai latte. Or maybe horchata. Spiced egg nog with a snickerdoodle? Could be nostalgia knocking at the door, but it's my favorite scent I've come across for any men's personal care products, including other bay-rum aromas.
All in all, like I said up top, love this soap. Simple as. Plus it's seriously cheap so just do it, no major loss if you end up not sharing my opinion. **** you can just mail it to me if that's the case, you know I'll use it.
