The Dovo Shavette is a great way to try straight razor shaving without investing a lot of money. Because the cutting surface is a disposable blade, there is no cost and time of maintenance. This razor comes with 1 clear and 1 black blade holder, but additional holders can be purchased separately from Dovo. The handle is stainless steel.

Clear Holder - The clear holder uses a standard double edge blade, split in two.

Black Holder - The black holder uses a specialty blade that is similar to a double edge blade, but longer.

Good but not great.

I bought this razor a couple of months ago as my first straight razor. The razor is light weight which is nice for control and it takes a variety of different blade types which is nice. What I don't like about this razor is the handle and the blade holder. The handle is heavier than the arm which makes it less balanced--I would recommend a plastic handle version for this reason. What I don't like about the blade holder is that it covers the corner of the blade making it more difficult to use for neck shaves and line-ups.

Per boyfriend handles great compared to other but needs to ship w full length blade. Great value for price.

Great product

This light weight German made shavette is an ideal product to learn the art of shaving with a straight razor because you can feel what's going on. With heavier types of shavettes it's more difficult to feel the slight nuances to get the correct angle. Free shipping is an absolute ridiculous joke. First order took ELEVEN days! Second order took TEN days!! Lame

Does exactly what I bought it for...

I've been looking for something to trim the top of my mustache under my nose. The narrow width of the blade holder makes that possible. In the interest of full disclosure, I probably shouldn't call what I'm using it for shaving. But, I can pick off one hair at a time and make it work. I dinged it one star just because of the flimsy feel. Yes, it is light and easy to control in tight quarters as I mentioned. But, the overall feel is maybe just a little too light. Not a big deal, but it's not a very expensive piece of equipment either.

Dang. It's light. Had the tip guard. Can see the blade well with the red holder. My go to razor.
