Exellent blade exposure and quality
Exellent blade exposure and quality construction
Great shave. No nicks, no weepers with moderate care. Close , efficient results. I can use more often than I originally thought. Great with a Nacet blade. Would like to see in a stanless steel version.
To start, this razor is not the beast you may have been told it was. It does deserve some respect, but when used with proper technique there's no reason to fear it. I've enjoyed several comfortable, close shaves with the R41. I didn't care for the Muhle blade that was included, it felt rather tuggy. When paired up with a Voskhod blade, however, the shave was excellent. Also, the finish on this razor is flawless. You'll be proud to have it in your den!
As close a shave as I want
Ok, I'm an idiot. Anyways I bought this to see what all the kerfuffle was about and now I know. I bought the one with the long handle, which I recommend. I got a few small bleeders even when using it carefully at first. To reduce this, I now do a first pass with a merkur 34c because the muhle was tugging. Than I switch to the muhle. Finding the right blade (hint: not a feather) is a little tricky. A consistent blade angle is much more important than a more forgiving razor. Once you get the hang of it it's not anymore difficult than another razor AS LONG AS YOU KEEP PAYING ATTENTION. The shave is fabulous. Glad I bought it.
I've been shaving my head my whole life and just used the beast for the first time. This was by far hands down without question the best shave I have EVER had. Paired with a feather razor and some Taylor of old bond street and I have never had such a great feeling therapeutic and effortless shave. Everyone is right though probably not a good ideafor a novice especially with a feather in it but I can't describe how awesome this thing really is!!!!!!
