Simpson Classic CL 2 Best Badger Shaving Brush (CL2B)

8 reviews

Unfairly unknown, the Simpson Classic is a wonderful shaving brush. It has a nice stubby handle and the knot is packed with dense Simpson Best badger hair. The CL2 is just slightly larger than the CL1

Great brush

This is an excellent brush. I bought it on sale so the price was very good, and the shipping was quick. Very good purchasing experience.

Great Brush

I've been using the #1 version of the Classic for probably 8 or 9 years. This #2 version is only slightly bigger, but it is bigger. The Classic is a great brush for a guy that like a brush with some backbone. Can't recommend this brush highly enough, and it travels really well too. Be aware that if you buy the Simpson travel tube, this #2 version is just ever so slightly too big for that tube. The #1 version fits just great, but this version is just a skosh too big, just FYI.

Simpson Classic 2

Absolutely love this brush! I am a fan of the Classic series by Simpson and fortunate to own several bespoke and synthetic versions. But the Classic 2 Best is my stranded island brush. Wonderful soft tips, great balance of loft and backbone, perfect splay on the face. Tears through soaps with ease, while gently enough to whip up a beautiful lather with creams. This is THE face lathering brush to have in your collection.

Excellent brush

I have over a period of years accumulated about 20 brushes including various boar, synthetic, and badger brushes from companies including Simpson, Semogue, Shavemac, Plisson, and Omega. This brush is one of my overall favorites. It is a compact dense brush that loads easily even when using hard triple milled soaps. The tips are fairly soft yet the shorter loft and density of the hair gives it a nice amount of back bone. At the same time the brush releases the soap easily and I do not find it a "lather hog." Many describe the Simpson Classic brushes as small Chubby's with the Classic 1 being equivalent to a "Chubby 0" and the Classic 2 being a "Chubby 0.5" and I would say that description is fairly accurate. This brush is my first choice for face lathering hard soaps...I enjoy it immensely and I believe it is a great value...near identical performance as a Chubby 1 in best at a lower price point. The hair is denser than a Duke so it feels firmer on the face with a denser massage sensation. While many enjoy the Berkeley I have owned both...I still own the Classic 2 and no longer own the Berkeley. Bottom line is that all of these Simpson brushes are quite nice and I have enjoyed all of them but for me the Classic 2 is the perfect size/density/backbone for face lathering hard soaps and it is priced nicely for the high quality of the brush.
