  • Best selling soap from Mitchell's Wool Fat
  • Exceptional lathering and protection
  • New updated formula
  • Great for sensitive skin

It was in the early 1930's that Bradford chemist, Fred Mitchell, realized that the natural lanolin content of wool fat was keeping the hands of local sheep shearers and wood sorters exceptionally soft. That realization led him to create a soap that could be beneficial to delicate complexions and sensitive skins. Now folks around the world have come to love the gentle soap from Mitchell.

Mitchell's has a line of soaps in a variety of ranges, but their classic shaving soap is getting lots of love on WCS. The lanolin keeps skin soft and protected. It whips up a great lather for lubrication and protection from the blade. Reviewers rave about the slickness and lack of razor burn. Truly a great soap for those with sensitive skin.

In keeping with the natural feel of this soap, it has little-to-no scent. Just a clean, fresh experience. As one reviewer put it, "I can't imagine what I would want from a shaving soap that I'm not getting in spades from Mitchel's Fat Wool." Try this puck in a favorite bowl or get this soap in a ceramic bowl from Mitchell's.

Good product

Fragrance is subtle and approaching barbershop category, good lather, not quite a classic yet but has the makings. When you're looking for that understated, mellow shave...

shaving soap

Good lather doesn't seem to keep lather a long time. Scent is very light

Excellent shaving soap

Quick and easyto develop a rich thick lather. Has a subtle scent. Got a babyface smooth shave when I paired this with my Floid pre-shave oil and Muhle R41 safety razor.

Tried again

MWF has such great reviews on the intnet...almost a cult-like following. I tried several years ago and just couldn't seem to work up a voluminous lather with it. Kinda thin. I could get it to a fairly viscous consistency, but it still went on my face thin. It's a decent shave. It works. But for me, not great. I recently ordered another puck because over the years since my first attempt I've moved on to another bevy of brushes. I thought maybe this soap would be better with one of my other brushes (currently a Simpsons, a Vie-Long horsehair, and a synthetic bristle). But, really, still not impressed. It works, and I'll use the puck. But I think this is my last go-around with the legendary "MWF." On the other hand, West Coast Shaving is a fine on-line purveyor of wet-shaving products. Fair prices, quick shipping and all that. I'll order more from WCS, but just not this product.
