Somewhat of a letdown...

I thought this brush would have more backbone than it does. It's almost too floppy to use actually. I face lather so I need a brush with some stiffness even after soaking. I'd been using a Simpsons Berkeley for the last 5 years and it was outstanding, so when I ordered this [bigger] brush, I thought it would be more of a good thing. I was wrong. Let me be clear: It is a really GOOD brush. Well made and the badger hair is very soft and luxurious, but I knew as soon as I pulled it out of the dish soap water I had it soaking in for its first cleaning and I saw it leaning over just slightly that it was going to be too floppy. It was quite a hard fall especially considering the price and that it's non-refundable as soon as you break the seal on the box.

Best Badger Duke 3

This is my second Duke series brush, and it has been a fine brush so far with both soaps and cream. I prefer the slightly stouter knot brushes 23-24mm, and the Duke 3 fits that niche perfect. I have not experienced any shedding with this Simpson brush at this time. I would recommend this brush to others that prefer the slightly larger and denser knot brush, its not a water hog and creates very good lather.

Duke 3 in Best Badger

My recent purchase of the Simpson's Duke 3 in Best is somewhat disappointing. I have only 3 others to compare it to at this time. I was somewhat disappointed at the density of the lather it gathers after several seconds loading in various soaps. Not nearly close to my Chubby 2 or even french canadian Henri and Victoria. I have heard there are varying qualities to some Simpson's brushes. It's not a bad little brush. Just not as dense and a small degree less backbone than I was expecting but overall not bad.

My Best Brush.

I bought this from WCS; This is my best brush, dense badger hair, lathers great with soaps & creams, & the quality of the entire brush is outstanding. It takes awhile to break it in but after that, it is the winner for sure for me. (1 to 2 weeks)
