- alum bar
Great Alum Bar, does NOT hold up though!
I really like this alum bar, as it’s really smooth and leaves my face very soft, but when shaving with it it slipped off my vanity and into my sink, and it broke into hundreds of pieces! I was devastated. so, moral of the story, buy this, but be careful!
I bought this to use when I travel. It's the perfect size to fit in my dopp kit. The plastic case is great to store the bar.
I was skeptical about this product at first but I'm extremely happy I bought it. I thought it may crumble with use as many of my styptic pencils have done but it didn't. Just wet your face with cold water, moisten the block, and rub it across your face. You feel a little tingling but it's well worth it as it tightens your face. I use a good balm afterwards to finish up.
Does what it says. nice little plastic box for when on travel. perfect size (enough to hold in hand but not so big that it is a waste)
Decent alum block at a great price.
Candidly, I don't have much experience with alum blocks (aftershave bars). But I'd been seeing them used in shave videos to provide feedback on the shave. This certainly accomplishes that! In my case, I wet the block under cold water and wipe over the shaved areas. Where there is a tingle or sting, you know you perhaps applied pressure or went over the area too many times during cleanup. If there's no sting, you know you just had a great shave! I leave the alum on my face as I clean and dry my razor, then rinse it off with cold water. It leaves my skin nice and tight. I pastry my face, then apply my aftershave balm. Shave feedback is an interesting concept. If you've never given it a try, at this price, it's worth doing so. I don't know if more expensive, imported alum blocks do a better job I can't imagine how. But this bar was a decent investment.
