Good soap, bad smell
The soap and the shave are great. The smell is pretty off putting. Its a very sharp fragrance that reminds of me of the cologne my old man used to wear, English Leather. I love my dad and this smell suits him but not me. Try a sample before you purchase a large size one.
Great scent, scent strength and performance. This is a winner
Another hit from B&M
I have to admit that I didn't enjoy my first shave with this soap at all. I have Seville (which I love), but the Reserve base is different. This base requires less soap and more water. It is thirstier than any soap that I own. It took about three shaves to get it dialed in. When I did, it is a fantastic soap. Very slick with excellent residual thickness. I don't pay much attention to post-shave feel since I wash my face and moisturize after shaving. This is an excellent soap. If you have another one of the B&M soaps with the reserve base then you will have no issues with lathering. If you are new to the reserve base just know that you will need to work to dial it in, but once done you will be rewarded with a superb shave.
I've always been curious to try the Reserve base so when I saw that it was on sale, I jumped on the occasion. It has a really great sent that doesn't get overpowering but I would have hope it would last longer. For the lather, it's a really slick and dense soap but you have to work it a bit longer than other Artisans Soap (Stirling come in mind). But it's all worth it ! Would definitely recommend buying the samples if you're curious about the Reserve Base Soap.
Not sure on the fragrance. It's a little different but like most soaps it's gone it a short period of time. Razor slides quite smoothly and it lathers very well. The container is quite large compared to any other soap I have purchased. I have used it twice and will keep it in my rotation of different soaps. I would purchase agin.
