  • Artisan, tallow-based shaving soap
  • Scented with the perfect aroma of Russian royality
  • Loaded with moisturizing goodness: glycerin, coconut milk, shea butter, and lanolin

Looking for another soap for your shaving rotation? You can't miss Barrister and Mann. This artisan soap maker is making waves in the wet shaving world with exceptional tallow-based soaps and complex fragrances. Like many, Will Carius got his start making soaps that wouldn't irritate his sensitive skin. Now, you can enjoy the benefits with Barrister and Mann Tallow Shaving Soap, Cologne de Russe.

This fabulous tallow-based lathering essential is loaded with coconut milk, shea butter, and lanolin to give you an extremely protective and moisturizing shave. It whips up a prodigious lather. This is a very thirsty soap so don't be afraid to add a generous amount of water to get the sufficient glide. It's worth it! The tub is "hot-filled" (poured when the soap it hot) so it loaded readily on the brush. This soap launches their new line of heavier, low-profile jars with revamped packaging.

This sophisticated aroma is a throwback to a scent created for the Russian royal family by the House of Guerlain, but it was discontinued in the early twentieth century. The bright top notes of lemon, bergamot, petitgrain, and herbs gives way to a heart of violet, rose, bay, and amber. Then the warm, masculine base of castoreum, benzoin, and vanilla keeps it from being too aloof. Sure to brighten even the most Siberian-esque morning.

Size: 4oz.

Awesome scent, great lather

Slick, efficient, skin-nourishing sensual experience. Highly recommend. Purchased the skin balm in the same scent based on this product.

Wonderful Scent and Great Lather

This is one of my favorite shaving soaps, for the two most important reasons: first, it functions incredibly well - even in a hard water area, and second, the scent is delightful. I live in Southern California, and while this soap elicits a scent that could brusk the siberian winters, it does a very good job of making one feel crisp and fresh on a sunny 80-degree day.

A Gift of the Gods

This is the best! Use a boar brush. Give it plenty of water. The scent is unusual and "Old World" like. Smells Russian, in a good way! The lather, being tallow based, is perfect. Thick, slick, stable. The soap scent is subtle and doesn't last long but it is really nice. If it's not enough for you, buy the "Cologne Russe" as well. It's more of an aftershave verging on being a cologne. I wish they would make it in a true EDT strength with staying power. I usually use too much! My Norwegian wife, who is not a fan of sweet smelling men, thinks it is a terrific. masculine fragrance. A splash of this and my Thor's Hammer and I'm ready to go!

Fair Soap

I agree with the previous reviews in that the soap builds up a nice lather even with a boar bristle brush, but I gave it an " average " rating because it doesn't have much scent. I asked my wife if she liked it, but she said that she liked the sandalwood smell better. I couldn't notice much of a scent while applying the lather. Perhaps my " nose" wasn't functioning correctly.
