This a good soap, lather is adequate but not great. Bay Rum aroma is weak and overpowered by an unpleasant chemical or packaging smell. Won't buy again
This stuff is great! Thick, rich lather! Strongly recommend.
Captain's Choice Bay Rum Shaving Soap - a disappointment
I've been wet shaving for 60 years, having started with and used Yardley's English Lavender shave soap until it was no longer manufactured. My gold standard for currently available shave soaps/creams/croaps include Mitchell's Wool Fat, Valobra Cologne, and Proraso green. Captain's Choice is a fair soap. Scent is OK, protection is adequate, a very "thirsty" soap that consistently clogged my razor. Not even in the same class as my aforementioned standards. Incidentally, WCS remains a sensationally good outfit to do business with. I recommend them highly.
One of the best I have used
This soap produces a thick rich lather with a very pleasant smell. The lather seems to last longer than others I have used. Another benefit - for me anyway- is that I get an additional 2 to 3 shaves from my blades. The blade really glides through the beard when using this soap.
An Excellent Shaving Soap
This soap produces a thick, lubricating, and protective lather on par with the best tallow-based soaps. And it's the first "Bay Rum" shaving soap I've tried that actually smells like Bay Rum and not a Christmas cookie.
