Lavender Lovers will love it
First let me just say if you have not tried Fine soaps before, they are incredible performers in lather and pretty good in slickness and this one is no different. And because it's a hard soap it will also last a long time. Personally I prefer Fine's Fresh Vetiver and American Blend to Lavender Pour Homme - but that has more to do with my scent preferences for fougeres and woodsy spice scents. Though I have never smelled Czech&Speake Oxford&Cambridge or used it's shaving soap I can tell you that I have smelled the shaving soap at a store and it did smell exactly like this puck, but I cannot compare how the C&S O&C soap performs (but Lavender Pour Hommes w/ the plastic tub is still less than half the price of C&S O&C's puck refill!) This scent is kind of like dry lavender at a farm stand w/ the other herby notes happening in the background, but lavender comes out the strongest, in a good way. The plastic container feels a little cheap, so it doesn't make me want to save it and replace the puck when it runs out - and frankly I prefer to keep my Fine soaps in stainless steel shaving bowls w/ lids because it makes loading the brush easier, looks cooler, and the scent is enhanced somehow (or maybe just psychologically feels that way). Still, this is a D@mn Fine Soap!
Not my favorite Fine soap
This soap and lather perform as beautifully as you'd expect from Fine Accoutrements. 4/5 stars because I think the price could be a dollar or two cheaper and the scent is not my favorite. I don't know what Czech and Speake (which is suppose to be the scent inspiring Lavener Pour Homme) but this does smell like straight up floral lavender. For my two scents, I prefer Fine's Fresh Vetiver and American Blend much more - but that has more to do with my sensibilities than the product. Lavender lovers will love it. The black tub this soap comes in is decent, it's just a cheap plastic tub, nothing lux or fancy but have certainly had better quality ones on soaps a few bucks cheaper than $16.
