  • Handmade scuttle for creating luxurious lather
  • Two-toned blue color
  • Unique, one-of-a-kind grooming utensil

Here at West Coast Shaving we want to make sure that you have everything you need to make your wet shaving experience out of this world. Designed with the wet shaver in mind, this grooming utensil is just what you need to take your lather to a new level. Check out this Hand Thrown Shaving Scuttle, Two-Toned Blue.

What is a scuttle, you may be asking? This ingenious contraption is a bowl within a bowl. This allows you to fill the bottom chamber with warm/hot water and then you create your lather in the top vessel. The bottom bowl will keep your lather warm and ready -- as the ceramic holds the heat. Each bowl is hand thrown on a potter's wheel, glazed, and fired. So each piece is unique. No two bowls will come out exactly the same. This utensil is glazed with blue colors for a unique finish.

But you can count on this bowl whipping up a luxurious lather. The heavy stoneware holds heat, wide mouth makes it easy to whip, and the sides are designed to keep the lather in. The smooth glaze is waterproof and food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. (However, the color of the glaze could be affected by these activities). The bottom surface of the bowl is unglazed.

Size: 5.25" wide, 3" tall, and 7" from lip to end of handle

A much better shave

I've come back to wet shaving about a year ago and really enjoy it. However, my lather would always be cool by the second pass. This scuttle has been a real game changer with really warm lather the whole 3 passes. The other thing is I can whip up my lather even more quickly. This is a real game changer. One note, it is sizable.

A scuttled review

The only real flaw to me is that it is too small for my tastes but then again this was also the first few times that I have ever wet shaved. I think it could do with being a wider bowl so the soap won’t just cover more of the sides than the middle .

Hand Thrown Shaving Scuttle, Two-Toned Blue- Great- Love it :)

I found this scuttle and wasn't too sure how well it would work but was I pleasantly surprised. I use it as a brush rest when face lathering between passes. It is large enough for a large 26mm brush full of lather and keeps it nice and warm- very happy with it. Nice quality and construction and doesn't take up too much space on the counter. Looks great, nice sale price too, nice value.

Nice looking bowl

This is a well made ceramic bowl that looks good sitting on my sink. As far as producing lather, the inside of the bowl is really too smooth to help in creating a thick lather. It takes me far longer to whip up a decent lather compared to my Captain's Choice copper bowl. I have wanted to try a scuttle during the winter months for a couple of years now as the thought of being able to shave with a warm lather sounds very appealing. In practice though, my results have been underwhelming even though I put steaming hot water into the inner bowl before making the lather. I guess I'm not sure what I was expecting, but my lathers have been barely warm for the duration of my shave and when all is said and done, it's really not worth the trouble compared to just using my regular bowl.
