I really love the Karve Razor, and trying different plates doesn't break the bank. This is the most aggressive baseplate, and I really wanted to try it out. It's extremely smooth, and doesn't leave me with any razor burn. I'm glad I added this to my other baseplates, and it's great that you can get these from West Coast Shaving.
(F)abulous Plate for a Fabulous Razor
This review is for the KARVE plate F. However, I need to digress a bit. I first bought my KARVE with the plate D. I have dozens and dozens of razors. I gravitate towards mid to aggressive razors. The razor was awesome from the start... BBS without effort or discomfort. I then added plate E. I bought an extra cap and handle to create (2) razors. Then B and C plates. Everything just works in this system. My many years of shaving allowed me to get BBS with all the plates, adjusting the shave style a bit for each plate. Tickled and excited, I went all out and went full aggressive with plate F. I LOVE IT!!! Plate F isn't too aggressive. Blade gap doesn't always equate to a scary razor. Geometry is also important. It does show blade feel more than the other plates but it's still very smooth like plates D and E. I shave every other day, and I have no problem with plate F. As a daily driver, I might go D or E instead. Plate F shaves better than the ATT H1 or Timeless 0.95 open comb AND is smoother. Great razor for a unbelievable price. I like the way brass tarnishes, too.
