Norton Waterstone 4000/8000 3" Combo

4 reviews
SKU HN-NOR-24336
The Norton 4000/8000 is one of the most popular sharpening stones for straight razors. This one hone is really all you need to keep your straight razors sharp. Waterstones are synthetic stones designed to be softer than oil stones. These softer grade stones are used with water as the lubricant (versus oil) to develop fast-cutting slurry. Stones may need flattening with some frequency. Combination Stones provide double the double grit and reduce the cost of getting started with waterstones, while providing a full selection of grits. This stone is packaged in a plastic case which can be used to hold the stone when sharpening. 4000 Grit: A fine grit that cuts fast but does not polish.8000 Grit: Provides a polished, smooth edge.Size: 8" x 3" x 1"Made in Mexico.

Great tool!

It's taken some effort and a few tutorial videos but now that I know how to use it I love it!

It's a very good stone

It's a very good stone but you guys are way over priced. I bought that exact stone and another stone as well and didn't pay near that for the both of them together.

Simply the Best

I?m fairly new to wet shaving, DEs up till this point, but I decided to purchase a vintage straight and recondition it. This hone and a little elbow grease put a very sharp mirror edge on the vintage 1950?s Dubl Duck I?m working on. This is a fine product for people just getting into straights or a seasoned pro; it?s a large stone with plenty of sharpening surface, very forgiving, and a value for the price. I would recommend to my friends but not my enemies, I don?t want their tools sharper than mine.

Excellent honing tool! I have the entire series in the wood shop and the 8000 grit will put a mirror polish on any steel, including the high-speed A2. Do not bother with the slower cutting oil stones.
