Since 1945, Saponificio Varesino has been crafting traditional soaps for laundry, industrial, and grooming purposes in Italy. And while they are proud of their almost 75-year history, they aren’t resting on their laurels but are continuing to perfect new crafting methods to bring the best soaps to the world.

Experience. Patience. Attention to detail. All of these are requirements of the soap-making process. Because saponification isn’t just a chemical process, it is enhanced by the skills and “eye” of the soap maker. This soap is crafted into a wonderful lathering grooming requisite. The rich, natural ingredients soften, moisturize, rejuvenate, soothe, and more. This is an updated version (Beta 4.1) of their already popular soap. This one includes butter of illipe and macadamia oil for additional hydration and protection.

This 70th Anniversary fragrance is a classic. Like the colognes of the past, it has notes of aquatic freshness and floral sweetness. Then it ends with a woody masculine base with hints of amber.

65 Years to Find the Right Shaving Soap

I have been shaving with soap for 65 of my 80 years, and have tried many different brands including several from West Coast Shaving. Though not inexpensive, this is by far the class act of shaving soap and the finest I have ever used. Lathers easily, shaves close, and the scent is complex and perfect. Will be back for more.

I really love this stuff. I couldn't believe how easy it lathered up for being a harder soap. Hardly any bubbles, very easy to produce thick rich lather. The scent is awesome too, manly and pleasant not an old man smell, wife loves it. I've used Barrister and Mann, Stirling, D.R. Harris, TOBS, Captains Choice etc. and for me the performance of this is better, especially in terms of easily producing a quality lather. Slickness and protection is top notch and post shave is very nice too. 10/10 would reccomend this stuff. This is my first SV soap so now all there is left to do is try the other scents! Price could have been a bit cheaper but I expect this to last a long time being a harder soap.

My very first time using Saponificio Varesino Shaving Soap

Probably the best shaving soap I have encountered, thanks to a close friend's recommendation. Smells great, shaves great with thick and slick cream/foam, and it finishes with a strong moisturising effect on the skin.

First class

I've been using soap and brush for a very long time and the SV soaps, especially the 70th Anniversary, are my favorites. It will quickly produce a thick, cushioning, slick lather no matter your water conditions, including extreme hard water like mine. Scents are uniquely their own; they do not try to imitate the hot scent du jour. Just an all around world class soap. The price is actually considerably better than it appears: it comes in a huge 5.3 ounce, milled puck that will last close to forever. Price is competitive when you consider cost per/shave. Enthusiastically recommended, both the soap and WCS.

This is special shave soap. As far as function, it is slick, cushioning, easy to lather, and the thick, creamy lather is long-lasting. I love the aroma of the 70th Anniversary soaps, and use the bath soap version also. This is a non-tallow soap, and yet performs as well as, or better than, my tallow soaps. It only takes a few swipes of the brush on the puck to make enough lather for three passes, much like Martin de Candre. Compared to MdC, it is more slick and with a more engaging aroma.Writing this, I realized that I haven't touched my favorite DRHarris pucks since receiving this. Love it! Pricey, but less than MdC.
