Stirling Soap Company Liquid Body Soap, Baker Street

  • Body Soap
  • No detergents, sulfates
  • Recreated scent from Strop Shoppe with juniper, bergamot, jasmine, & patchouli

If finding a simple, all-natural aftershave on a department store shelf is less than "elementary", then you should turn to the traditional goodness of Stirling Soap Company. You don't need to wear tweed, smoke a pipe, and wield a magnifying glass to deduce that Stirling Soap Company is passionate to bring natural, healthy grooming essential to your shaving routine. In this Baker Street aroma, they are keeping alive a well-loved scent from The Strop Shoppe.

Baker Street scent is a tribute to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's character Sherlock Holmes. Starting with a base as bold as this legendary detective, this scent uses bergamot and patchouli and then builds to a masculine blend of juniper and jasmine. One reviewer said, "I was late to bus when Strop Shoppe announced they were shutting down shop and selling the rest of their stock, so I wasn't able to try Baker Street. When I heard that Stirling was re-releasing the scent, my ears perked up and I was immediately intrigued. It's safe to say that the hype was all true. This stuff smells amazing."

Let your nose lead you to 221B Baker Street!

Description from the Vendor

What's the difference between body wash (or shower gel or any of the other names they use) and liquid body soap? I'm glad you asked. Body washes and shower gels aren't soap. They're a detergent-laden, sulfate-ridden, skin-stripping, dryness-inducing, itch-causing bottle of awfulness. The FDA won't let them use the word soap on the label because it isn't actually soap.

Liquid body soap is just that: soap. Just like our wonderful bath soap bars, they are made by mixing oils and fats with lye (potassium hydroxide in this case, which keeps it from hardening up like sodium hydroxide would cause). Potassium Cocoate? That's the byproduct of postassium hydroxide and coconut oil. Potassium Oleate? Byproduct of potassium hydroxide and the fatty acid oleic acid. Potassium Olivate is just the result of saponifying Olive oil. Citric acid acts as a chelating agent to help the soap lather better in hard water conditions, replacing the tetrasodium EDTA found in body washes and shower gels.

Just like our bath soap bars will leave your skin feeling better than a bath bar off the shelf at your local Buy More store, a liquid body soap will leave your skin in a better condition than a bottle of "body wash."
