  • Body Soap
  • No detergents, sulfates
  • Scented with a woodsy, spicy aroma of the Ozark Mountains

Stirling Soap Company began with a vision to bring something that could properly be labeled "soap" back to your grooming routine. No artificially loaded "washes", no chemically based "cleansing bars", just good natural soap. So if you love the back-to-basics nature of wet shaving, you will love this company and its myriad of fantastic products!

This soap has a refreshing outdoorsy scent. The Ozark Mountains stretch across southern Missouri and northwestern Arkansas. This midwest highland boasts expansive forested hills and rambling rivers. Pitch a tent in these mountains and breathe deeply. That is the scent of this shave soap - woody and spicy with pine and cedar notes. Reviewer Olof said, "This is a very woodsy, piney scent but more complex than a lot of other such soaps. This complexity is what makes it stand out to me, since it makes it very versatile. This is one of very few soaps that I own which I consider to be equally good the whole year."

Description from the Vendor

What's the difference between body wash (or shower gel or any of the other names they use) and liquid body soap? I'm glad you asked. Body washes and shower gels aren't soap. They're a detergent-laden, sulfate-ridden, skin-stripping, dryness-inducing, itch-causing bottle of awfulness. The FDA won't let them use the word soap on the label because it isn't actually soap.

Liquid body soap is just that: soap. Just like our wonderful bath soap bars, they are made by mixing oils and fats with lye (potassium hydroxide in this case, which keeps it from hardening up like sodium hydroxide would cause). Potassium Cocoate? That's the byproduct of postassium hydroxide and coconut oil. Potassium Oleate? Byproduct of potassium hydroxide and the fatty acid oleic acid. Potassium Olivate is just the result of saponifying Olive oil. Citric acid acts as a chelating agent to help the soap lather better in hard water conditions, replacing the tetrasodium EDTA found in body washes and shower gels.

Just like our bath soap bars will leave your skin feeling better than a bath bar off the shelf at your local Buy More store, a liquid body soap will leave your skin in a better condition than a bottle of "body wash."

Ingredients: Water, Potassium Cocoate, Potassium Oleate, Potassium Olivate, Parfum, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice

Bottle Size: 16 fl oz

Great Scent

This is my favorite Sirling scent, with Barbershop a close second. It's definitely an "outdoor" scent. Sort of gives me a Springtime vibe. I decided recently to start using real soap, and gave away all the bath detergent I was using. Not going back. Contrary to the makers product disclaimer, I find that this particular scent stays with me awhile. Buy two while it's on sale.
