First founded as The Village Apothecary Shop by Dr. Galen Hunter in 1838, C.O. Bigelow is billed as the "oldest apothecary in America". It was renamed by Clarence Otis Bigelow in 1880 and has run continuously since then, passed from employer to employee or father to son. Frequented by presidents, dignitaries, and superstars, this is more than a pharmacy. It is a place of "discovery, conversation, learning, and laughter". Try their bestselling Bigelow Shaving Cream and see what has kept them in business for nearly two centuries.
Third-generation Bigelow Proprietor and Pharmacist, Ian Ginsberg, set out to find the best shaving cream in the 1990s. His search led him to Italy. This cream has a very softening lather that gets your whiskers ready for the blade. When they're swelled up, they're much easier to cut, which reduces drag and abrasion on the skin and prevents some of the most common problems that men with sensitive faces have. This formula is also creamy in consistency. It goes on very easily and, after you let it sit for a minute or so, it will soften up your skin and have your beard ready to be cut back without causing irritation.
This comes in a 150ml tube and it's portable and easy to travel with. This makes it a great choice if you happen to be heading out on the road. The cheap stuff you can find in drugstores just doesn't hold up to real products made to help men shave. Remember that whatever you put on your face is the only thing between it and the steel you use to trim back your whiskers, so don't skimp in this regard!
