Muhle R89 Double Edge Safety Razor

37 reviews
Sold out

So, why are you here looking at some traditional safety razors today? Let's see, were you recently out to dinner when someone came up to you and wanted an autograph? Did they think you were part of ZZ Top? Did someone throw some change in your coffee cup thinking that your 'facial dishevelment' must mean you were down on your luck? Maybe you just wanted to start wet shaving in the traditional manner. Regardless of the reason, you are in the right place for quality shaving tools, and you really can't go wrong with the Muhle R89 Double Edge Safety Razor.

This item has a learning curve, just as all safety razors do, but it does come with a short instructional piece. Really, it is not overly difficult to use, and you will be shaving like a pro in no time flat. You'll have one of the best shaves of your life too. It's not only about how well it works though. This piece actually looks good, and you will be proud to have it on your shelf. Keep in mind that this comes with just one blade though, so you might want to pick up some extra while you are here.

Well Finished but

The Muhle R89 is a very well crafted razor. It is also a good choice for someone starting out with a double edged razor. On the other hand, the weighting is in the handle mostly and not in the head, where in my opinion it should be. More importantly safety wise, the handle is surprisingly slippery while shaving. This is a mild razor, even for a closed comb.

Fantastic razor!

This is the perfect razor for me. The weight of the head is enough to give you a close shave without having to press down. Just let it glide across your face! Great small size too, so it fits perfectly in my travel case with a pack of razors and my travel brush. I should have bought this razor a long time ago. So should have you!

Much Less Aggressive Than R41

Great fit and finish. Was looking for something less aggressive than my R41, which I love but which is not a good choice if you’re in a rush. Much more forgiving, though I might find try to find something that splits the difference between these two. Only negative is that the larger header makes it a bit harder to get into tight spots under my nose

Great Razor

I grew up watching my granddads shaving with safety razors. I had been wanting one for years, and so I picked the Muhle R-89 about three years ago. It's by far the best razor I've ever owned. I'll never go back to multiblade raxors again. I've been using Gillette premium blades, and frankly I have never had a problem. The learning curve, for me, was almost non existent. I don't know if I would even have a problem teaching a teenage boy on this razor. I have very sensitive skin and this razor doesn't seem to bother me much. On the rare occasions that I feel a razor rash might be an issue, I just shave once with the grain. But for a baby smooth shave, I'll go once with the grain and then a second time against it. My wife really loves the clean shave this razor offers. You can't go wrong with the R-89

Looks nice

switched from Merkur 23C bought 41&89 the 23C is in between these. The 41 is too aggressive and the 89 a little too unaggressive. I like the 89 but if cost is a factor the 23C can't be beat in my opinion. I wanted a prettier razor and it is that.
