Merkur's long history began over a century ago, when Emil Hermes hung out his single in front of his cutlery factory and named it Merkur (Roman equivalent of Hermes, messenger of the gods). Today the winged messenger logo graces high-quality grooming utensils, like their double edge razor blades.

Blades are a very subjective grooming product, so finding your right one is a process. Merkur puts a reputable entry into the running with this traditional product. Made of stainless steel and platinum-coated for comfort and protection, this blade graces the razors of many wet-shaving fanatics. Merkurs fit all standard double edge razors. They come individually wrapped in boxes of 10 blades. Keep a fresh one on hand for the close, smooth...

Needs to correct hardware to work

Bought these and Wilkenson Blade to compare. I'm new to wet shaving and the Feather, though highly rated , scares me. I'm currently using a Vikings Blade Chieftain and a Timeless with .68 blade gap and scalloped edge. In the Chieftain it's way to harsh for me. Close shave, but with nicks. The Timeless tames this blade some. Good, close shave just on the verge of irritating. Thank goodness for Crown after shave to calm my skin. My next investment will be a solid bar Timeless base plate in 095 gap. Maybe this will be the right piece of hardware for the perfect shave with this blade. By the way, the Wilkenson blade is very forgiving in both my razors. Just not as close a shave. Thank goodness I'm semi retired and have the time for this experimentation. It's fun.

Good quality blade but wasn't for me.

So the Merkur blades are well packaged and are quite smooth but I think they put to much coating on them at the factory. I tried three of these blades four times each and the first shave was generally a bit rough. They do get better on the second shave once the coating where's off. I do have a coarse beard and sensitive skin so I think these blades might be more suited for someone with a medium beard and less sensitive skin.dont get me wrong, these are quality blades they just aren't for me. I also go back to the Pol Silvers.

Not worth the price

Decent shave, but heavy to light pulling, not smooth but no irritation; I have very thick facial hair and this blade struggled with it

Great blade. Very sharp and lasts twice as long as the feather.
