If you've spent any time checking out artisan soap makers, then you are sure to have seen Catie's Bubbles (named after the soap maker's daughter) tickling fancies. Fabulous fragrances and phenomenal foam are making fans with these French soft soaps. Catie's Bubbles Shaving Soap, Le Piment de la Vie is one of their most popular scents.
All of these soaps are handcrafted with high quality ingredients that are completely vegetable and fruit-based. The seemingly simple recipe reminds some of Martin de Candre. Coconut oil and glycerin are sure to provide the moisturizing, glide, and protection that you are looking for in a shaving requisite. The hygroscopic nature of glycerin and the soap salts mean that this is a thirsty soap. It has the capacity to absorb large amounts of water as you create your lather. It also means it should be dried completely after each use to ensure longevity and texture. This soap may experience random discoloration as it is exposed to air; this is normal and not harmful.
You may have heard of barbershop scents being called "old school", but this scent takes that to a new level. We aren't talking about the striped pole, main street shops of the 1950s. No, we're going WAY back, to the high end, Victorian Tonsorial Parlours of the 1850s. All essential oil notes of bergamot, litsea cubeba, petitgrain, citronella, lavender, geranium, and oakmoss absolute make this a dignified, powdery aroma.
Size: 4oz. (poured into an 8 oz. tub so there is plenty of room to lather.)
